Green Team
at work

Sixty five students from the Secondary Academy for Success in  Bothell spent a Friday at 21 Acres south of downtown Woodinville recently -- learning first hand what agricultural sustainability is all about. Farmers at 21 Acres put the students to work, as these photos illustrate. The Green Team at SAS has made several trips to the site helping clear blackberry bushes, clear trails and help with work so necessary for developing the site.

For their efforts, the Green Team received an Earth Heroes award from King County.

Woodinville Rotary Club
has pledged to support the work and development of 21 Acres and its goal to preserve the agricultural heritage of the valley. The site is next to the Zante Farm on the south side of the city's south bypass road.

Individuals tend to their vegetable garden plots in the community sector.
A 16,000 square foot community education center is to be built between the gardens and the south bypass road
to provide a year-round home for the Woodinville Farmers Market. Groundbreaking is scheduled for this fall. In
the meantime, the Market will operate Saturdays at the Woodinville Wine Village site farther south in the valley.

Saturday public tours of 21 Acres will  begin June 2.
