Meeting of December 20
Twas a few days before Christmas and all through the Grange, Rotarians
brought gifts for the purpose of Exchange . .. .and exchange they did
(and borrowed and stole and mooched) but more on that later..
We delightfully welcomed many family members including Olivia and Quinn
Visse, Matthew Hopkins, Haley and Robert Bylin, Olivia Banks and Mr. and
Mrs. Claus and a few of their Helpers!
Our President was pleased
and honored to announce that the Woodinville Rotary Club has received a
District Simplified Grant, in the amount of $3,500.
This is the first ever received in the Club’s 25-year history and
is actually a matching grant.
The funds are slated to be applied toward the improvements for
the north portion of the Rotary Community Park.
A Standing O was given to the grant writing team of Tim House,
Susan Webster and Greg Riggs.
Rotary Youth Exchange Aficionado, Mr. Larry Duffield, was pleased and
honored to announce that, for the first time ever, a SAS (Secondary
Academy of Success) student will be the outbound Rotary Student for the
coming academic school year.
Madison’s destination is not yet known, but Larry will keep us
apprised.
All present were treated to an incredible Buche de Nod, which was
created and crafted by Pauline Robin. It was incredibly fresh, light and
delicious . . .as only the French can do.
Thank you, Pauline!
Next on the agenda, very quickly due to the sound of sleigh bells
ringing in the distance, the following individuals were proposed for
board positions for the year beginning in July, 2012:
President
Greg Riggs
Vice President
Becky Clark
Secretary
Roger Martindill
Treasurer
Mike Visse
President Elect
Eric Greenwood
Immediate Past President Erv DeSmet made a motion to accept the
above-mentioned nominations.
Gray Whitsell seconded the motion.
The “ayes” carried the motion.
At that very moment, the sound of many hooves was heard on the roof of
the Grange Hall and what do our wondering eyes should appear but Santa
and some not-so-little- Rain Dears. And, as usual, Max won the first
number to pull a gift out of the bag!
He even has a corner on the Santa Claus market!
Unbelievable! At the
end of the day, Tom Quigley ended up with the “stupid purse” (someone
else’s words, not mine), Doc Marsh ended up with a dead chicken and
little Robert Bylin ended up with the perfect Whirly Beanie Hat.
Santa is good.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year, I am signing off.
Ace (aka Becky Clark)
