Maltby
Oktoberfest -- MomTana
has declared Thursday to be Rotary day at the
Maltby Cafe's annual Oktoberfest. The large, round table has been
reserved for Rotarians at 12:30 pm. Featured: Krautwickel (cabbage
rolls). The menu from Monday through Sunday features German
favorites.
For your calendar:
Our annual holiday party has been
scheduled for Tuesday evening, December 6, at the
Crystal Lake Clubhouse, according to our Special Events
Committee. There will be NO
morning meeting that Tuesday.
Meeting at 21 Acres -- Mark your
calendar for November 8 for our meeting to hear
about and tour the 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable
Living. We'll be talking Rotary First Harvest that day. Timely.

Operation Warm:
Sign up to Help Friday and Saturday...Co-chairs Charlie Russell and Karen McDonald report that the
national program will issue its one-millionth coat this winter. We
will again be distributing coats at the annual Santa Breakfast on
Saturday, December 10 at Northshore Jr. Hi School. Plenty of Santa's helpers will be needed
for the project. Operation Warm plans to send our club an extra 60
coats this winter to help celebrate the growth of the program. Ten
other clubs in our district participate. 760 kids will receive
this year's new coats.
Falcon football anyone? --
Cougars and Huskies football fans among us might find something to
cheer about this week in catching up with Woodinville High
School's undefeated football Falcons. In blanking Roosevelt last
week, it was a school-record fourth shutout this season, 31-0.
Woodinville is the Crown Division champ this year and will meet
Eastlake Thursday night at 7 at Pop Keeney
Stadium in Bothell to determine the KingCo League championship.
Go Falcons!
A
note from scholarship recipient Lena Seino --
"My name is Lena Seino and I was wondering if there was a way I
could contact people who choose who receive the Pride Family
Memorial Scholarship awards. "I was awarded the Arvid K. Pride
Family Memorial Scholarship all though college. I recently
graduated and wanted to thank the foundation and those who helped
me make it through college. "I am now starting my Masters in
Public Health at the University of Washington and all of this
could not have been possible without that scholarship. I want them
to know how big of a difference they made in my life and to
sincerely thank them for believing me and my potential by giving
me this scholarship all four years. "Thank you,
Lena".
Editor's
Note...Lena is a 2008 graduate of WHS and a 2011 graduate at
Washington State.
