Hopelink Luncheon: If interested in joining other Rotarians at the Hopelink Luncheon table Monday (Oct. 17), please contact Eric Greenwood, this year's associate table captain. The table is sponsored by the club. One seat still available.

For your calendar: Our annual holiday party has been scheduled for Tuesday evening, December 6, at the Crystal Lake Clubhouse, according to our Special Events Committee. There will be NO morning meeting that Tuesday.

Board meeting: The  monthly meeting of officers and directiors will be Tuesday, October 18, at 5:30 p.m. at Brittany Park. Primary topics: review of Oktoberfest, Josh the Otter water safety education program, proposed new bylaws.

Operation Warm: Co-chairs Charlie Russell and Karen McDonald report that the national program will issue its one-million coat this winter. We will again be distributing coats at the annual Santa Breakfast on Saturday, December 10. Plenty of Santa's helpers will be needed for the project. Operation Warm plans to send our club an extra 62 coats this winter to help celebrate the growth of the program. Ten other clubs in our district participate.

Grand Cayman bound -- Alex and Julie Hopkins are bound for the Grand Cayman as the winners of the Best of Live Auction at Oktoberfest. They will be staying at the Grand Cayman Westin Hotel where the local Rotary club meets. Grand Cayman Rotarians donated the trip which will include airfare (roundtrip). Alex has already made contact with Rotarians to make up at their meeting. It was surprising that the sergeant-at-arms made no mention of this good fortune at our last meeting.
Auctioneer John Curley announced the winners at the start of the live auction.

Our Community Service Partner since 1990

of the many community and education projects which are and have been the focal point
of our club's annual October charity fund-raising event.

  Woodinville Rotary Club's
 Charitable Giving Focus

Rotarians of Woodinville believe that providing a pathway for Woodinville's youth to obtain an education represents our opportunity to live "Service Above Self".

The club provides direct funding to programs from grade  school through college...new Operation Warm coats for young children in need, brand new dictionaries for every third grader, summer reading camps at Kokanee and Woodmoor elementary schools, music and academic opportunities at the Secondary Academy for Success (SAS), a pilot project at Woodinville High School for peer-to-peer math tutoring, and renewable scholarships for Woodinville High School and SAS graduates where it will "make the difference" between affording and attending college.
