Hopelink Luncheon: If interested in joining other Rotarians at the Hopelink Luncheon table Monday (Oct. 17), please contact Jorge Gonzalez, this year's table captain. The table is sponsored by the club.

For your calendar: Our annual holiday party has been scheduled for Tuesday evening, December 6, with location arrangements being finalized by our Special Events Committee.

Board meeting: The next board meeting will be Tuesday, October 18, at 5:30 p.m. at Brittany Park.

Dinner with an otter: Several club officers will be meeting Thursday evening (Oct. 13) in Seattle with representatives of the Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation to explore our involvement next spring in bringing its water safety education program to pre-school and elementary-age children in our school system. If this is the type project you might be interested in helping in the planning and development....please contact Erv DeSmet. Joshua's parents will be attending a regional conference in Seattle and will join us for dinner to describe the program and how they established the foundation as a legacy to the son they lost in a tragic drowning accident in their Omaha, Nebraska backyard pool at the age of 4. We feel the message and the value of water safety education at a very young age is one that would have particular importance to parents and families living with the Puget Sound area. Our plan is to provide age-appropriate, illustrated readers and a coloring book for interested teachers. Our own Josh the Otter might make a surprise visit at the Oct. 11 meeting.

Our Community Service Partner since 1990

Banner Bank has participated with Woodinville Rotary Club since 1990 in the development and support
of the many community and education projects which are and have been the focal point
of our club's annual October charity fund-raising event.

  Woodinville Rotary Club's
 Charitable Giving Focus

Rotarians of Woodinville believe that providing a pathway for Woodinville's youth to obtain an education represents our opportunity to live "Service Above Self".

The club provides direct funding to programs from grade  school through college...new Operation Warm coats for young children in need, brand new dictionaries for every third grader, summer reading camps at Kokanee and Woodmoor elementary schools, music and academic opportunities at the Secondary Academy for Success (SAS), a pilot project at Woodinville High School for peer-to-peer math tutoring, and renewable scholarships for Woodinville High School and SAS graduates where it will "make the difference" between affording and attending college.
