Membership proposed
-- The board of
directors has issued an invitation for membership to Gaylen
Sauve. Sponsor Gregg Riggs. This is the second
of two Newsletter postings of this proposal as required by
the club's membership policy. Gaylen is currently serving as
chair of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce and operates
his own business, GSC Music and Sound. Members with
questions or concerns should contact either membership chair
Roger Stark of secretary Julian Denes.
Club directory being updated
--
The 2010 club
directory and roster of members will be published soon for
distribution in early April. The directory team wishes to
thank the 40 members who promptly responded when asked to
review their current roster page and advise of changes and
additions. The team is tempted to advise the
sergeant-at-arms as to the names of the 10 who have yet to
respond. Roster information is due by no later than March
12.
Two fund-raising events of
note
--
Club members have brought to our
attention the following two programs sponsored by
organizations
which have drawn support from our club presently or
in the past:
March 19 - Northshore
Performing Arts Center Foundation "Spring for the Arts"
luncheon at the Hollywood Schoolhouse.
Contact-Larry Leonardson. Larry is assembling two
tables for the event. Featured speaker, retiring Cascadia
Community College President Bill Christopher.
Details
March 26 - Northlakes
District, Boy Scouts, annual fund-raising breakfast at Bear
Creek Country Club.
Contact-Greg Riggs. Purpose is to raise operating
funds for the district council.
Music Project Update --
Creative director Bernadette Bascom
and Executive Director Jim Geiszler will be at the March 9
meeting to report on their SAS performance April 1 at the
Triple Door as well as projects scheduled for the balance of
the school year.
Three to RYLA --
After a hiatus of several
years, the club this month will be sponsoring three
Woodinville High School students at the Rotary Youth
Leadership Assembly held at Pacific Lutheran
University in Tacoma. The goal is to provide some
background information and experiences for students
returning to WHS in the fall who will be in student
leadership positions. Vocational director Alex
Hopkins is handling the details. Attending from
Woodinville will be Matthew Rieke, Lisa Hawkins and
Charlie Schloredt.
Fool's Parade anyone? --
The club's new director of
public relations, Becky Clark, is wasting no time
getting into her new position -- entering the club
in the March 27 Fool's Parade in Woodinville. The
entry will include John Abbott behind the wheel of a
shiny Lotus, Terry Jarvis pushing the accelerator of
his 1934 Nash sedan -- but not the 1970 Grace Public
Works truck. The entry will introduce our exchange
student Andrea Preiswerk and our 2009 Citizen of the
Year Cathy Swanson. If any other members would like
to join in the fun, please let
Becky know of your
ideas and interest. Details on time and location
will follow. Parade starts at 11 a.m.
No morning meeting on March 23 --
See you at the hoe down that
evening at DeLille Cellars for an old fashioned
square dance featuring a guy named Bronco and a cast
of Rotarians. Have you signed up for this 5th
Tuesday social on the fourth Tuesday of March?
Pam
Johnstone has details and the sign up sheet.
