Membership proposed
-- The board of
directors has issued an invitation for membership to Gaylen
Sauve. Sponsor Gregg Riggs. This is the first of two
Newsletter postings of this proposal as required by the
club's membership policy. Gaylen is currently serving as
chair of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce and operates
his own business, GSC Music and Sound. Members with
questions or concerns should contact either membership chair
Roger Stark of secretary Julian Denes.
Raffle and the Duty Roster
-- There appears some confusion concerning the assignment of
"raffle" as posted on
the duty roster. The member assigned to the front desk job
handles the sale and issuing of tickets for raffle prizes.
When assigned to "raffle", that member is required to
provide and bring a prize
for that morning's meeting.
Seeking new harmony
--
Art and Janet
Haines are en route to their new home in New Harmony, Utah.
Art joined Woodinville Rotary in 1989 and served as
president in 2003-2004. His legacy will include fashioning
the idea of more social opportunities through the Fifth
Tuesday socials -- even when carried out on a fourth Tuesday
as is the case this month.
Two fund-raising events of

organizations
which have drawn support from our club presently or
in the past:

tables for the event. Featured speaker, retiring Cascadia
Community College President Bill Christopher.
Details
March 26 - Northlakes
District, Boy Scouts, annual fund-raising breakfast at Bear
Creek Country Club.
Contact-Greg Riggs. Purpose is to raise operating
funds for the district council.
International Budget Approved
--
A budget of
$15,000 for international service was approved by the Board
of Directors at the February meeting to complete the
charitable giving plan of $138,000 for 2010. The budget
includes $5,000 for a matching grant application for a
school for deaf children in Pakistan; $1500 for water
filters in the Village Volunteers program in Kiminini,
Kenya;
$3000 for the day care center for disabled children
in Positos de Luz, Mexico; $500 for a women's bread oven in
Fiji; $3000 for the Willamette Medical Team's next medical
mission to Peru; and $2000 for a computer project in
cooperation with the Rotary Club of Jaltemba Bay, Mexico
(former Woodinville Rotary charter member Rick Helberg as
lead coordinator).
