“Seeking new harmony in Utah....”
Reporter’s Notebook – Final Entry – Art Haines
This will be my final Reporter’s Notebook as I write this from a
hotel room in Yakima, on our way to New Harmony, Utah.
A new home, a new future and a new Rotary Club.
For those of you who were not at Tuesday’s meeting, I was the
program making a few comments about what being a Woodinville
Rotarian meant to me.
I think I said something about how important the family of Rotary
was to me, how every one of you was part of an extended family that
I never had as an only child.
I think I said something about how I learned the meaning of Service
Above Self in all the contributions to our community and our world
that each of us made throughout the years.
I think I said something about how you taught me to be inspired by
every act of service and fellowship I witnessed in our time
together.
Or at least that is what I wanted to say.
Here is what I will miss:
The hearty “Good Morning Woodinville Rotary” at the beginning of
each meeting.
Wondering what type of invocation we will have
Singing with gusto often with several tunes in multiple keys
The white marble
Trips to Lynnwood for volunteer days
Charity event reports starting about 10 minutes after the last event
District governors who don’t understand Woodinville Rotary
Erv’s year as president
Marvelous Marv
And every last Woodinville Rotarian
I wish you all the best in your fellowship and service in the coming
years. I look forward
to hearing great things from Woodinville Rotary.
Make me proud.
