President Al Marsh called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m.

After flag salute, benediction, and rousing song, Terry Pickering, Assistant District Governor for District 5030 introduced District Governor Nancy Dalton as our speaker.

Nancy spoke very eloquently about the good things that Rotarians do.  She reported about what she sees from her perspective about Rotarians and how they do such amazing things for their communities.

She talked about international projects and her views on how to make them most effective.  She provided us with a wealth of information about the amount of money that is spent by our district for various projects and so forth.

Nancy spent some time talking about the Polio story.  It started with a Rotary Club in the Philippines.  The idea of the vaccine started there and now has spread around the world, and we are down to four countries that still report cases of Polio.  She discussed a new project coming to the Museum of History and Industry.  There will be a kiosk with information and videos about the Polio Project as well as videos of certain district members doing interesting things.  There is also going to be three panel discussions about Rotary and its activities.

Governor Dalton then mentioned that the District Conference is going to be in Portland, Oregon from May 14 through May 16, 2010.  The Friday night keynote speaker will be Marvin Hamlisch.  On Saturday, we will hear from Deepa Willingham about ending poverty in the world.

Then, we had some reports on the auction.  These were preliminary reports, but it was a success.  Many people were thanked by many other people.

Our exchange student, Andrea, reported that she had a great weekend of activities, including going to the Seahawks game with Joe Truglio and his family.

There will be a Hopelink luncheon on October 19, 2009.  Our club has a table reserved, and we need more people to attend the luncheon.

There was mention made of nominations for District Governor.  This person will be serving several years from now, but the nominations are due in the near future.

Holiday Party.  Alex Hopkins is in charge of this year’s Holiday party, which will be on December 1, 2009 at Monte Villa Farmhouse.  Gary Whitsell, Gordy Green, and Chris Boland all volunteered to help Alex with this year’s event.

                                      Happy Birthday to Gary Whitsell

The marble now is worth $300.00.  We had no winner for the marble.

The meeting was adjourned promptly at 8:30 a.m.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED this 13th day of October, 2009.
