Club Leadership

Reporter's Notebook - Art Haines

Having been missing in action from the Tuesday meetings since before the passing of the leadership mantel from President Chris to President Al, I found myself curious what change the New Administration had brought to the club.  Here is what I noticed.

What’s different:

·         Things are warmer or sunnier – at least this morning.  I could not help but notice that President’s Al’s administration had arranged a sunny, 70˚morning for the club.  Way to go Al!
  ·       Fresh hot cinnamon rolls!  There goes the diet.

·         Roger’s beautiful saxophone rendition of the Lord’s Prayer for our invocation.  Wow!

·         The Woodinville Every Few Years Golf Tournament was held on Monday with 7 or so Rotarians out baking their brains in the President Al’s summer sun.  Larry Leonardson apparently had low score except for the fact that he only played 15 holes.

     ·         A Family Picnic!  August 22 at 4:00 pm.  Details coming.

·         Evan is a mere shadow of his former self, many pounds lighter and looking positively trim.  Way to go Evan!

·         We are dropping the ball with the weekly duty roster.  Violators beware.  Miss your duty without a substitute and you will pay at least $5.00.

·         Full frontal hugs between the Sergeant of Arms and the President.  Not sure how or why, but there it was in front of the whole club

·         A ten minute early adjournment so that we all could go work on our tans.

What’s the same:

·         Fine speakers from Rotary clubs in Everett and Bellevue presenting the Shelter Box program.  This is a Rotary program started in the UK that provides the essentials for living (tent, sleeping bags, kitchen, water purification, basic tools) in a portable plastic box.  Literally tens of thousands of people have been helped in disasters, including people in Biloxi, Mississippi after Katrina, have been helped by this program.  For information and to make a donation go to http://www.shelterboxusa.org/.

·         Our track record of butchering pop songs continued this morning when we had to stop singing two thirds of the way through “Here Comes the Sun”.

·         Lots of great happy dollars.

·         Slow but sure progress on auction donations.  Time to accelerate the asking!

·         And lastly but most importantly a club united by fellowship, fun and service.

Max Zellweger misses marble grab for second week in row. Evan not much luckier!
