Third Grader
Dear
Woodinville
Rotarians
Thank
you for the really big dictionary. When
it was in my backpack with 3 books
in there it was heavy! But
any way thank you for the dictionary. It was nice for the
big and fat dictionary. It was so big. I
loved it! s/

Comments: When
I got home my Mom and I had a dictionary race... When
I got home my mom and dad reacted very amazed... All
my parents could say was "WOW"... I
instantly took it home and my family was glad we got a new
one, our old one stinks... I
need a dictionary so I can spell more words rite... It's
making me very intelligent... I
plan to use it in high school and college... Now
I can look for thousands of different words like the word
humungous... Now
I can always know what the definition of cool is... Thanks
so much for the dicsunary... I
read all of it and it helped me in my spelling. It is so
miraculous... I
loved all the pictures... Woodinville

Membership
proposed: The
Board has voted to extend an invitation of membership to
Alex Racz. This is the first of two required postings of
proposed membership. Members with concerns or questions are
invited to contact the president, secretary or membership
chair Tana Baumler. Alex has operated CarbConn Performance in
Totem Lake the past 22 years and is a resident of
Woodinville. He is proposed by the membership committee.
Sports
Field Update --
At its March 10 meeting, the Woodinville City Council
directed staff to complete specifications for the
Woodinville Sports Fields and put the project out to bid in
mid-June. The action was by a 4-3 vote during a meeting in
which tempers flared and accusations of crystal-ball gazing
took center stage. A report in the Woodinville Weekly
conjectured that the project is still one million
dollars under funded. Those council members who voted to
proceed with a call for bids said this fact will not be
known until the city receives actual cost projections
through that process. The fields upgrade to artificial turf
and lighting received an additional half million dollars in
support from the local soccer organization.
At the
March 17 meeting, our club's officers and board voted to
table any action on Woodinville Rotary support for the
project until at least the April board meeting. The next two
meetings of our board are scheduled for April 21 and May 12.
Literacy
developments -- In other Board action, club service
director Joe Truglio is working on the possibility of
expanding the club's support of summer reading camps to
Woodmoor elementary. The club has provided financial help
for the Kokanee elementary camp for a number of years in the
amount of $5,000 per summer.
