Alex Hopkins classifies

Rho Kumar classifies

The meeting was called to order by President-Elect, Al Marsh.

Following the flag salute and invocation, we had a beautiful song led by Al Marsh and his singing companion, Dr. Bob Maynard.

We had two classification talks.  One was given by Alex Hopkins, and the other was given by Rohit Kumar.  Both talks were quite interesting because we got to learn a lot more about these two fine members of our club.

President-Elect Al Marsh decided to mix up the action by having an early drawing for the marble.  Ignacio, our famous caterer, came forward boldly and went for the white marble.  Sadly he came up empty handed.  He did not appear to be crushed for a very long time.  It was only a momentary setback to his otherwise glorious life.

Bill Schink reported on Rotary First Harvest.  He discussed the holiday gift donation opportunities which include various types of greeting cards.

There was an announcement concerning the Polio Plus presentation to be given by Penny LeGate on November 16, 2008.

President-Elect Al Marsh went over some upcoming important dates such as the November 18 “Show Your Colors” meeting, and the holiday party on December 2, 2008.

There was a discussion about an issue that is of great importance to our club.  That is the duty roster problems that have been experienced.  On many occasions, the people who are supposed to do various tasks have not done them.  There has been a trend toward people that have assigned duties not calling for substitutes and replacements.  Because of this, people have to fill in on the morning of the meeting, and it is very awkward and not always a pleasant surprise to have to do that.   President-Elect Al Marsh asked for suggestions on how to improve this situation.

The meeting concluded at approximately 8:30 a.m.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED this                   day of October, 2008.
