Announcements:

Greenwood and other Rotarians attended Hopelink’s annual luncheon.  Battlestar Galactica’s Edward James Olmos was the keynote speaker.  Eric says the agency has experienced a 71% increase in need for services within the last 6 months.  The luncheon raised over $1 million.

Principal Puckett says WHS will be trick or treating for canned food this year.

Haines reports Dr. Thomas Boyer will be speaking at REI’s Seattle flagship store October 30th at 5:30 PM (see walkontop.org for tickets).  Boyer has summitted the highest peaks on each continent.  Proceeds will go to help amputees through Prosthetics Outreach Foundation.

Hughes says the 2008 harvest of Pinot Noir grapes took place last Friday at Vintage Auto.  Crush took 45 seconds.  2007 will release in February, March or April of 2009.

Greenwood announced the Holiday Party will be held December 2nd at the Farmhouse as it was last year. Will feature the melodic tones of Roger Stark and musically inclined.

Classification Talk:

Roger Martindill told of being born in Indianapolis and moving to St Louis, South Bend and Grand Rapids.  He served 3 years in the military stationed in Germany.  After being discharged he joined the family printing business, which supplied the food and beverage industries.

In 1994 he moved to Seattle and went to work with a printing, packaging and promotional materials company.  KING 5 just aired a story on them.

Roger is married, has two daughters and 3 grandsons.  Partner Karen has two daughters and a grandson and granddaughter who is living with them.

Martindill joined Rotary in 1985 in Michigan.  He has been President of both the Rotary Clubs of Redmond and Ballard, but not at the same time.  For the past 3 years he has been Assistance District Governor, as well as District Community Service Chair, Conference Chair, District Secretary and Rotarian of the Year.

Steven Dolan is now apparently a banker, or someone with that name is.

Much whoo haa about  ‘waivergate’. Grace Chief of Police consulted with J.A. Jance in Bisbee AZ.  Wanted posters were distributed searching for Guiseppe ‘Guido’ Truglio, a very unsavory character.

Schink says Maltby Food Center’s recent auction had fewer attendees but netted more  money.  He was most happy.

Evan bought a wedding dress.  For a donation to Rotary we may be able to get him to model it for us.

The Sacramento school district is testing a school program created by Fiske’s wife, Corrine.

Woodinville Fire Chief was not able to pull the white marble from the box.  So the $270 will grow again next week.

Presidential Thoughts:

WSU football team is similar to possums.  They both play dead and get killed on the road.

The difference between a winning Husky football team and a UFO is that someone has actually seen a UFO.

The Seahawks differ from a dollar bill in that you can still get 4 quarters out of a buck.

Respectfully submitted,
