Eric Greenwood reporting

The meeting was called to order by President Chris, who had recently returned from backpacking along the Washington coast, and looked remarkably like the leader of a Middle Eastern country.  You be the judge:

Remembering that we are in America, Terry Jarvis led the pledge of allegiance to the United States which was followed by the Broadway tune, “Hey Look Me Over” by Songmiester Doc Marsh.

Dr. Roger Stark; trombone player, retired heart surgeon, and member of Woodinville Rotary; provided the program and discussed his new gig as a member of the staff of the Washington Policy Center.  This local think tank has been in operation for over twenty years and specializes in providing market-based solutions to challenges facing citizens and policymakers in Washington State.  The organization provides recommendations in a wide variety of matters including spending policy, tax policy, the environment, labor policy, and others.  Roger is focused in the area of health care reform and policy advice in the health care system.

Roger reviewed the current condition of the United States health care system by debunking myth vs. fact regarding the state of the American health care based on research completed by the Washington Policy Center.  There was a lively discussion of these facts which lead to a standing ovation to Roger for bringing the thought provoking discussion to our Club.

Next week, John Abbott will provide a program on his recent trip to Africa.

Lastly, Terry Jarvis provided an invitation to an upcoming beer festival that is been hosted by the Kingston Rotary.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

 Respectfully submitted,

Eric Greenwood, Rotary Reporter
