Triple Door Benefit, Bus leaves at 5 p.m. The luxury motorcoach will leave promptly at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, from the city parking lot across the street from Wilmot Gateway Park. This lot is connected to the sports fields and is located next to Woodinville City Hall and "catty-wampus" north and west of Brittany Park. Those attending should save room for Apple Cake and ice wine dessert on the ride home.

21 Acres breaks ground: Check out this special page detailing the exciting news that the first construction phase of a major facility is under construction at 21 Acres on the Woodinville south ring road. We've reprinted the press release announcing the initial plans and provided an artist's rendering of the unique energy saving and conservation measures planned in the new structure. Executive Director Gretchen Garth and education director Dave Meuhlheisen will be at our June 9 meeting to provide a personal update. On the Saturday prior, the official ground breaking ceremonies will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Our club has established an endowment in the Northshore Scholarship Foundation which will fund scholarships for those taking advantage of educational projects at 21 Acres. A series of weeklong camp for kids will get under way in June.

Our Fun and Frolic Committee is at work planning a Rotary family picnic on a Saturday in August at 21 Acres when Rotarians, family members and friends will have a chance to tour the site, including the 18 acres presently under crop production. A total of 20 individuals have just started a course in urban farming at the facility.

Help beat the drum for procurement : Bring an item Tuesday for the October Wine'n Shine auction and you'll get to beat the big bass drum for Rotary! Chief Dennis Johnson has a terrific World War II minesweeper model made by an 83-year old Woodinvilleite . . . Chief Don Fitz will sign in with a scenic flight over Puget Sound . . . Grace Town Vineyards will offer a golden opportunity to taste the 2009 vintage of Reckonyard Gold pinot noir on the day of bottling . . .just a sampling.

Scholarship matching grant received: The club has again been awarded a $2,000 scholarship matching grant from the state's Higher Education Coordinating Board. The grants are designed for organizations establishing and building scholarship endowments. The funds will help support our efforts to increase the Peg Phillips Theater Arts Scholarship endowment to the $25,000 mark.

Wine for Installation Dinner: Those attending the Installation Dinner on July 7 are asked to bring a Washington wine to the May 26 meeting. These fine beverages will make for a delightful "happy hour" and dinner time. Daryl will be elated.

Wine'n Shine Alert:  Our plan is to send Save the Date cards at the beginning of June to potential attendees of our 19th annual charity event -- Puttin' on the Ritz. Time now for members to submit names, addresses and especially email info to the steering committee to be added to our master invite list. Please email this information ASAP as we are cleaning up and compiling the final list. Send to Hugo and the info will get to the folks working diligently on this important project. Send even if you think they may already be in the database. We have very few email addresses and it is equally important that we develop a strong email database to keep supporters up-to-date on early purchase opportunities and details of the dinner show and auction.
