Erv DeSmet Reporting

aka Grand Exalted Appreciator - G.G.WAS

The meeting was called to order by President Chris Boland.

After the opening ceremonies, Art Haines reported on a great District Conference in Victoria, British Columbia.
(See special report and photos)

Dean Baker of McKinstry Company gave a great talk on the partnerships between Northshore School District and the McKinstry Company.  These partnerships go back to the years 2003, and the partnerships in general are designed to make the Northshore School District buildings run efficiently and cost-effectively.  The results of these partnerships are quite remarkable.

With regard to future plans, one of them involves a new building for the Secondary Academy of Success.  McKinstry is also helping to develop a new curriculum for green and sustainable studies.

Rorry Dunbar gave a report on the auction status.  Max Zellweger received the award for the outstanding new donated item for the week.  Roger Martindill was honored for something, and he received the red and yellow propeller hat to wear for the rest of the meeting.

Francia Report.  Francia told us about her week, and she mentioned going to the District Conference in Victoria.  She has a prom this weekend, and her date is “Turkey Boy.”

Announcements.  On May 19, 2009, there is the annual Northshore Scholarship Breakfast, and volunteers are needed.

On May 26, 2009, there will be a bus going to the concert at the Triple Door to benefit the Music Project at the Secondary Academy of Success.

July 7, 2009 is the date of the installation dinner.  It will start at 5:30 p.m.  What do you want?  Meat or fish?  Please let Daryl Eckland know.  Also plan on bringing a good bottle of Washington wine to the meeting.

There is a board meeting next week.

Raffle News.  Don Fitzpatrick boldly went for the magic marble.  He lost.  No tears were evident.  Many other winners came forward and claimed valuable prizes.

The meeting was adjourned.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED this 5th day of May, 2009.
