The
Woodinville Rotary Club met on February 26th. Rick Pisani
started the meeting and we all sang “Happy Days are Here
Again”. The guests of the club for today were Kristen
Spangler and Walter Freytag from the University of
Washington at Bothell, and Luanne Jackman from the
Northshore YMCA Partners in Youth. There were no visiting
Rotarians today.

so we will have to wait until next meeting to here from
her.
In
the medical news we heard about Joe Truglio’s recovery.
He is still at home and doing better by the day after his
heart surgery. Doc Maynard was admitted to Evergreen
Sunday night and is having tests done. We all wished him a
speedy recovery. Finally, we found out that Roger
Martindill has made a full recovery – he was spotted out
and about having fun. |

The
program for today was about the University of Washington at
Bothell Business Development Center. Kristen Spangler and Walter
Freytag were the speakers and persons responsible for running
the team. This program introduces students to the real world of
small business. Students volunteer their time to help small
businesses in the community deal with many issues, including
marketing, technology management, e-commerce, financial
management, and human resources management. The program has been
a big success and has provided over 100 small businesses with
consulting services in the value $500,000. Bravo.
Susan Webster introduced the executive directors of the
Northshore YMCA Partners in Youth, Luanne Jackman and presented
her with a donation from the club in the sum of $2,500. This
donation came from the sale of the gift baskets during
October’s auction. Ms. Jackman informed the members of the
club that YMCA Partners in Youth is doing well.
In the news the Vicki reported that the Woodinville High
School Gymnastics team took a resounding victory at the state
championships for the second straight year. Jay Soloff’s
daughter was offered a job at Entertainment Tonight. Finally,
Rick Pisani reported that the Hollywood Hill chess team is on
the comeback trail.
