Highlights of the district governor's visit Feb. 5
It
was a dark and stormy night, I believe, on January 24, 2008;
however, it didn’t seem to matter on February 5, 2008 when
members of the Woodinville Rotary Club gathered for their weekly
meeting. No mention
was made of the dark and stormy night which allegedly had
occurred on January 24th earlier that same year.
Well,
it didn’t take long for everyone to realize that there was
“love” in the room because Al Marsh led us on a great
song-fest featuring that universally sought-after element we
call “love.”

Asst District
Governor Steve Lingenbrink and District Guv Don Gregory
were capped!

We
had a wonderful talk, very informative, from District Governor,
Don Gregory. He
shared with us his dream which resonated with all of us who were
there. He told us
about a world without polio, a world where everyone was
literate, a world where all people had the opportunity to drink
clear water that was free of contaminants, and lastly a world at
peace.

Kaye
Peterson presented our club with a plaque to commemorate an
immunization project which had recently concluded through the
Evergreen Health Hospital Foundation.
She reminded us of the powerful concept of multiplying
dollars. The final
total for the project was $48,000.00 which was far in excess of
the original amount that was funded at the start of the project.
The plaque is being presented to all of the Rotary clubs
in the Evergreen Health Hospital service area.
The idea of the plaques is to get the Rotary logo out there in the public,
and also to remind all Rotarians that we should be very proud of
the projects that we do to make this world a better place.

Birthday
Boy John Abbott told us about a very successful year. He said one of the definite highlights was being able to host
our exchange student, Laura, for his four-month portion of the
year.
The
Sergeant at Arms had a field day with numerous happy dollars
flowing into the coffers. There
was one fine levied. This
was for an extraordinary act of multi-tasking at the wheel of
her SUV performed by our beloved Susan Webster.
The
Reading of the Thankful Student Letters. We had
the opportunity to listen to some letters of appreciation from
various third-graders who had recently received dictionaries.
