Highlights of the meeting of Tuesday, December
18,
2007
Those Amazing Men in
their Tutus
What’s
with men and their Christmas attires? One would think that the
holiday season would bring feelings of love and compassion, but
for some a simple change in the way they dress results in a
profound transformation. Take for instance those who left their
Santa hats on during the Flag Salute! (duly fined and with
reason) or those who dressed up in a tutu, they must have
thought that it was the day for their recital, and then there
were all these men sitting on another man’s lap, is this all
because of the “magic of the season”? Then as if this was
not enough and to make sure the party ended on a high note there
were those who had the “I like your toy better than mine so I
am going to take it away from you” attitude who actually ended
up taking away each other’s toys.

Nonetheless
we enjoyed the festive atmosphere and we are all thankful to
those who took the time to plan and execute this magnificent
gathering of Rotaryville friends and their guests. Special
thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Claus and their elves for making our
dreams come true although not for everyone, take for instance
how sad little Gordy was when some bully took away his “Low
Rider” however most were fascinated with their toys like for
instance little John Creason who got his blue badge, or little
John Abbott with his 2006 Two Buck Chuck. At the end, the spirit
of the season prevailed and no one went home empty handed, but
we sure hope that no one went back to work still wearing their
tutus.
Sailing Anyone?
|
Joe
from Lynnwood made the trip to remind us all of the great
opportunity we have to enhance the Marv Workman
Scholarship Endowment while sailing through Alaska with
friends and family in the luxury of a grand cruise ship.
The goal is to raise $25,000 by December of 2008; to date
$6,770 has been already raised. To set the note in
assistance was Jen Norberg who took the opportunity to
present a check for the endowment. This writer predicts
that we will blow past the $25K goal well before ‘08 is
over. Still many of us wonder how Joe is going to fly fish
from the deck of the cruise ship. |

Our

All
of us are invited to attend any of the upcoming basketball
games in which Laura is going to be playing at. This
coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday (27th, 28th,
29th) will all be home games, so make your
plans, bring your friends and lets all show our support to
Laura. |
District
Conference
| Next
year’s conference will take place in the Tri cities
area, and we would like to see a strong presence from our
club. If you are interested please contact Art Haines,
this promises to be a great event filled with
unforgettable memories and perhaps some wine tasting. This
is the one opportunity we have to mingle with the members
of Grace provisional who traditionally attend the
conference in big numbers. Walla Walla anyone? |

It
Must be Hard to Reach 42
Celebration
for this month’s birthdays consisted of more of the same; with
celebrants speaking about family life, wedding anniversaries,
weddings, upcoming weddings, college graduations, travel,
grandkids to be, and how it feels to be FORTY-TWO.
You
Make Us All Proud
Linda
Hendrickson for her fund raising efforts to create scholarships
to help low income students, and Roger Stark for the publishing
of his book on Health Care Policy which can be found at
Amazon.com, I believe shipping is free.
How
Fun It Is To Have Fun
Roy
and Leslie Williams went aboard Evan and Janis McAllister’s
boat to take part in one of the traditional Christmas boat
parades at Lake Washington Why you may ask? Well because of the
generosity of both, you see Janis and Evan offered the ride in
our 2007 Charity Event and Leslie and Roy were the winning
bidders. You too could end up having lots of fun all you need to
do is to bid high and bid plenty. The question is could Joe fly
fish from Evan’s boat?
Until
next time, I respectfully submit this half ass Spanish
translated into English account of our last meeting. Spanglish,
some call it.

Roger
Stark was winner of a special holiday
drawing. Exclaiming "whatever he said,"
Roger donated $80 to the endowment fund for
the Marv Workman Business Scholarship
at University of Washington Bothell.
