Congratulations Al, Crimson and Rick . . . Although the final audit conducted by the Grace Election Commission is still in progress, early returns indicated an overwhelming vote count went for Crimson Chris Boland for president, Al Marsh for president-elect and Rick Pisani for past president. There appeared to be more votes cast than members in attendance, however. Several members signed their ballot, apparently unconcerned for the time-honored tradition in this country in support of the secret ballot. The balance of the slate for vice president, secretary and treasurer lured numerous write-in votes, most of which are being contested and evaluated by the non-partisan commission. A presidential vote for Hugo B. Jonsen will be carried over to his third national campaign as the So-So Party standard bearer, it was reported. Frequent mentioned of "Go Cougs!" were believed to be discounted as well as a vote by or for Larry Leonardson for past president. Others receiving write-ins were Burke Barker, Terry Jarvis, Greg Gratz, Greg Riggs, Bob Rosso, Susan Webster and Secretary Julian Denes, but for treasurer. Joe Truglio's ballot was believed tossed. In spite of the lack of definitive instructions included with the voting sheets, the commission reported finding only a smattering of chads.

No meetings December 25 or January 1 . . . President Rick Pisani has taken upon himself to issue a presidential directive that the club would not hold meetings on Christmas Day or on New Year's Day. Happy Holidays.

Tuesday Board meeting . . . the Board meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 18) at Banner Bank to finalize the 2008 charitable giving budget and to hear plans from Wine'n Shine chair Eric Greenwood as to proposed organizational and fund-raising goals for our  eighteenth annual charity event on October 4.

Cheers for Laura Dec. 27 at WHS . . . our night to shine for Laura Topin and the Lady Falcons. Tip-off is 5:45 p.m.  Observing Laura at Saturday's Huskies basketball game in the company of papa John Abbott, our star wing player appeared recovered from a sprained ankle.
