   Dueling Reporters

The June 17 meeting was such a noteworthy one that not just one, but two Rotary Reporters submitted reflections on the presentation of George Ray and Prez Rick's final morning with gavel in hand. The club is fortunate to have such dedicated journalists ready with the quill.

For Alan Nelson's version

For the forgetful Jorge Gonzalez's version, authored by Eric Greenwood, and which was to have covered the June 10 meeting

Memberships
Proposed

The Board, at its June 11 meeting, voted to extend invitations of membership to Roger Martindill and to Trish Knox. Membership would be effective July 1. Roger has served the past year as president of the Ballard Rotary Club and has been a frequent visitor and participant in Woodinville club activities. Trish is affiliated with the Children's Home Society and is active in projects focusing on the preservation of Sammamish Valley agriculture. This is the second of two notices regarding the membership proposals. Members with questions concerning these membership proposals should contact either the club president or secretary.

News of Vast Import and Interest to Woodinville Rotarians

3 new
years for
community
service
partnership

Good news for continued support of future charitable giving work by Woodinville Rotary.

Banner Bank has notified the club of its plans to extend support of Rotary Wine'n Shine and our primary beneficiaries for an additional three years at the $15,000 per year level in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Presentation of the bank's 2008 contribution will be made at the June 24 installation event. The club is indebted to the bank. Banner has participated with Woodinville Rotary in each of our 17 years of special fund-raising events, contributing more than $250,000 during that period toward the club's ability to give more than $1.5 million back to the community and to international Rotary programs. Congrats to Kathy Kill for spearheading
this request.

Notes

July 26-27
at
Marymoor
Park

Woodinville Wine Country (our community service partner in charity fund-raising) is counting on our club to provide volunteers July 25, 26 and 27 to help stage its first Wine Notes Concertfest. Plan to participate in this important event as the club's charity work is the primary beneficiary of the two-day event. A great number of volunteers will be needed at Marymoor Park -- particularly on Saturday and Sunday, the days of the concerts. Funds earmarked for Woodinville Rotary will go towards establishing an endowment to permanently support our scholarship program in the viticulture and enology programs at WSU and Walla Walla Community College. The Woodinville and state wine industry leaders count on these college programs to provide  trained, experienced men and women to work in their vineyards and wineries. The link to Wine Notes is at left.
Our very own  Larry Duffield (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) is coordinating our participation. Check out this headliner group...and go to their jukebox to hear the sounds of BBVD.
