Bonkers reports - subbing for Jorge

The June 17 meeting was called to order by President Rick; who was then offered a blessing from Gregg Riggs’ innovation, which sought to honor the President for his service to Woodinville Rotary during his year in office.

Vicki Puckett next led the group in the battle of “Row Row Row Your Boat” between two groups of the membership.  As a private observation, I did not experience the “gently down the stream” version when I floated the Wenatchee River with Blake Puckett last May.  As Blake explained after we had reclaimed the raft and ourselves from the river, “it is not a trip without a flip.” It is a great adventure and will be offered again in the Charity Event Auction.

Mademoiselle Laura reported on her last few days at Woodinville High School, and expressed her appreciation for her year’s experience as an exchange student.

The Program was presented by George Ray, who is celebrating his 32nd year with KCTS Channel 9 of Public Television.  He noted how Rotary has played an important part with Public Television as the Seattle 4 Rotary Club led the capital campaign in 1986 which raised $5 million.  He next provided a history lesson of the evolution of KCTS from it’s founding in 1954 and expounded on benefits that public television provides to communities as well as its different focus from commercial broadcasts.

Our Master auctioneer, Jay Fiske, provided a lesson in the need to fully and accurately prepare the Procurement Form which generate the information from which the Charity Event website will be prepared as well as the auction booklet.  As he noted, it is a classic “garbage in; garbage out” situation if item descriptions are not completed.  It was also stressed that collateral material to merchandise the items at the auction were also critical to obtain maximum value.

Following a final joke from the podium, President Rick adjourned the proceedings.

                                                                           Respectfully submitted, Eric Greenwood
on behalf of Jorge Gonzalez,
who muffed his June 10 assignment,
and hoped no one would notice.

Food for Thought - Prez thanx George Ray with pounds of food to Rotary First Harvest
