Baaab Russell, your Rotary Reporter Guests: Alex
Hopkins, Ted Truglio and Donna Whitsell (Gary’s Personal Loving
Assistant) Program: How to Survive a Rogue Wave
Neil Peterson, founder of Edge
Foundation a non-profit coaching organization for high school and
college students, told of a harrowing hiking experience he had along
west coast of Vancouver Island. Narrow
trails, towering cliffs, rogue waves, surge channels, 43 degree water,
sea caves and ADHD all factored in.
Peterson is an eloquent story teller and this volunteer report could not do his adventure justice. Neil’s story and Coast Guard video can be viewed at: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003748862_rescue15m.html Next Tuesday the Northshore Scholarship Foundation, which Woodinville
Rotary funds, will be presenting awards to Northshore Students at the
Northshore Senior Center. Shuttle
service provided from the Bothell Park & Ride. Eighty-four scholarships will be awarded.
Be sure to attend as these folks are sharp. Incoming Exchange Student Past Prez. Duffield is looking for a host family for our Bolivian
exchange student from late August to December.
Francia is 16, plays the harp and is eager to come to
Woodinville. If you, a
friend or neighbor residing in the Northshore School District are
interested, please contact Duffield for details. Welcome Back! Returning “Injured Reserve” Rotarians Maynard and Whitsell were
properly welcomed back. Good
to see the two of you! Sgt.
Leonardson: Burke
Barker, shared that he just turned 63, celebrated his 50th
anniversary and his daughter just got married.
Congrats. Jay
Soloff related DeLille Cellars won ‘big time’ awards recently.
The awards should not be a surprise. Al
G. (“Algae”) Green was tickled with his 19 years of matrimony. Roy
Williams will be gone for 11 weeks as he will be going around the world.
However, he didn’t say how or which way.
We should know next fall. Jorge
announced his 93 yr old dad is doing well and walking again.
A CLS600 would be an appropriate birthday gift from his son. Puckett
says the Girls Tennis Team took KingCo.
On to State! The
ever effervescent Linda Hendrickson reports the recent Cascadia CC
fundraising breakfast raised $41,000 for scholarship. Woo hoo! Also, CCC will be breaking ground on its expansion next
Tuesday. What a pistol! Raffle The
ever considerate Susan Webster pulled a multicolored marble out of the
box in order to let the pot grow.
This will keep Rotarians coming back for sure!
