How
principals are responding:
"On
behalf of our third grade students, I would like to thank the
Woodinville Rotary Club for its generous donation of new
dictionaries. Please feel free to drop off these welcomed
editions anytime. Thank you again for providing students with
this gift of learning." --- David
Hoffman, East Ridge Elementary
"We
are very excited to see you and gather our students together to
accept your generous donation." --- Karol
Pulliam, Cottage Lake Elementary
Six
other elementaries serving Greater Woodinville are on our list
for distribution.
The
community service project:
The
Rotary Clubs of Woodinville and Northshore want third grade kids
to know that they care about their ability to read, learn and
comprehend.
That’s why both clubs are partnering with the
Northshore School District to assure that all third grade
students in the district get their own personal copy of a
children’s dictionary this academic school year.
Sparked
by a Rotary International
goal of “Universal Literacy”, and ignited by a grant from
the Verizon Foundation, Rotarians are working together to get
dictionaries into not only the hands, but the homes of these
kids and their families.
The Rotary Clubs of Woodinville and Northshore see the
value for our community and are launching a district wide effort
for distribution this Thanksgiving season. The
school district has 21 elementary schools and nearly 1,400 third
graders who will benefit from the dictionary project.
More news to report on dictionary distribution:
Bob
Rosso, Al Marsh and Steve Dolan turned out to be the "big strong Rotarians"
Community Service Director Susan Webster sought last week.
All the dictionaries are in Woodinville, ready for distribution.
Schedules for distribution at individual schools by club member
volunteers will be worked out this coming week.
Once we get confirmation from all the schools, the schedule will
be posted on the website.
Thank you so much.
