Classification Talk:  Rorry Dunbar
Boring?  I don't think so.
Rorry Dunbar say's he's led a boring life.  I don't think so.  You can tell by the buff physique that he's not doing too much sitting on the couch.  When he's not running his ironworker company he's giving time to his family and social causes in South America.  Rorry has been a club member since the 90's and is an invaluable member of our auction committee.  We appreciate his depth of knowledge for the inner workings of our fundraising machine and dedicated service to our club.

Big Checks for go out for Kokanee Summer Reading Camp and Washington CASH Microlending.
President Whitsell felt the weight of some pretty heavy checks on Tuesday as he doll's out $10,000 for Kokanee Elementary Summer Reading Camp and $1,000 to Washington Cash.  Angela Kerr, principal from Kokanee and Laura Ruderman (former WA State 45th District Representative) from WA CASH graciously accepted the checks as recipients of Rotary fundraising for 2006/07.
Kerr put it succinctly when she stated, "when kids need a little extra help with their reading, the summer camp makes extra time for the kids."  Funds donated goes to helping teachers so that teachers can work with kids.  Simple as that.  The elementary teachers thanked the Woodinville Rotary Club for continued support of Kokanee Elementary Summer Literacy Program.  A note from a young student, Carter says, "Reading makes me feel proud of myself!"  Thank you Kokanee Elementary.

Woodinville Rotary Scholars from UW Bothell
Strut their academic stuff and demonstrate social consciousness.
Three bright, young scholarship recipients from UW Bothell joined us for breakfast Tuesday to thank the club for their Woodinville Rotary Scholarships. Joined by Chancellor Steve Olswang from UWB, and scholarship coordinator Keri Marino,
these bright, young men and women demonstrated well deserving scholarship from our club.

                                                                                                                                                               --- Susan Webster, Rotary Reporter

Principal Angela Kerr and summer reading camp staffers Cheryl and Carol gave a summary of a typical two-week session for Kokanee students needing a little help to be reading at the proper grade level. Community Service director Susan Webster presented a $10,000 check to help with the 2005 and 2006 camps. The program is in its 14th year.

In this array of Snappy-like photos, from above clockwise right, Nursing scholarship recipient Sarah Bates with one-year-old daughter Jessa, Arts and Sciences recipient Autumn Allen, and recipient Bernie Schultz of the Jerry Wilmot Masters of Business scholarship at UW Bothell -- posed with Vocational Director Roy Williams ... Prez Whitsell presented even more Rotary International info to Julian Denes, Kathy Kill and Jerry Cufley ... Nikki agreed that Steve Dolan was not color blind and had drawn a green marble....humble Rorry Dunbar acknowledged his years at Washington State University were life changing.
