Club Leadership

Did you hear about the magician who was walking down the street and turned into a bar?

The geologist walked right down to the river and said to the river:

"I'll bet your river bottom is littered with small rocks, dead animals, mud slides, silt and and other particulate inorganic matter."

To which the river responded:

"My sediments exactly."

Membership Proposal

Diane Kolb, executive director of Children's Country Home in Woodinville, has been proposed for membership.
This is the second of two postings of this action taken by the Board. She is proposed by the membership committee. Persons with questions or concerning this proposal should contact either President-elect Rick Pisani or the club secretary. It is the procedure of the club to post this information prior to extending a formal invitation of membership.

Installation Dinner

From meeting of TUESDAY, June 12

Prez-elect Pisani, substituting for Prez Whitsell, provided the meeting’s invocation with a personal prayer to complete the meeting on time. It was a fortuitous appeal given the number of presentations that were in store for the Tuesday, June 12, 2007.  Song leader Vicki Puckett and her choral assistants: Julian Denes, Jorge Gonzalez, Terry Jarvis, Nikita Sugandh, and Doc Maynard; led a rousing rendition of “Happy Days Are Here Again” to begin the proceedings.

Heidi Workman and Rick Schwartz

The “Cruisin’ With Marv Workman” sailing to Alaska on August 24-31, 2008 was introduced by Joe Truglio who described the cruise as fun cruise as well as a fund raiser to help establish the perpetual Marv Workman Business Scholarship.  Rick Schwartz from Princess Cruise Line reviewed the cruise itinerary and highlighted the Princess Cruise program in Alaska.  Arrangements for the voyage are being  provided by Heidi Workman of R&D Cruises, who can be contacted at 1-800-988-9282.

Nikita reported on the whirlwind celebrations associated with the end of the school year.  She has just two more meetings with the Club before returning home to India.

   June Birthday

Kathy Kill recapped her Birthday year which included the celebration of her one year anniversary, joining Woodinville Rotary, and her daughter’s recent graduation with a degree in fitness and nutrition.

Max Zellweger introduced Tasneem Bandukwala, a Rotarian from Pakistan, who he first met in 1996 when he and Doc Maynard went to Pakistan for the “Instruments for Eye Camps” matching grant.  Additionally, Woodinville Rotary participated in a second matching grant program for a Vocational Center for Women.  Tasneem is now the chairperson for a “Friendship and Family Exchange to Pakistan in 2008.”  The goal of the program is to enable person-to-person contact to “generate friendship, trust, justice, and international peace.”

  Updates Operation Warm

Jay Fiske, who brought the Operation Warm project to Woodinville Rotary, introduced Kim Dornado, the Executive Director.  She reported that there are now nine NW clubs involved with Operation Warm and the 2008 goal is to distribute 5,000 coats in the NW. Operation Warm has need for 1,500-2,000 square feet of donated warehouse space for October and November 2007 to house the NW coats prior to distribution.

Despite just three remaining marbles, Bob Rosso was not able to select the white marble (rumored to be out of town with Prez Whitsell) and win the $700 prize.  Abandoning his chicken suit for new work as a Spiritual Advisor, Eveready Erv DeSmet’s was also not able to secure any prizes for his spiritually deprived client, Terry Jarvis, despite Terry’s purchase of nearly four feet of raffle tickets.

With his prayers answered, Prez-Elect Pisani was able to conclude the meeting on time.
