Briefs
. . . We're asking for some Newsletter "reporters" to contribute an article or item for the weekly News and Views section of this Newsletter. In advance, thanks to old-hands-at-this Alan Nelson, Susan Webster and Al Marsh for volunteering to help during February! Snappy is being enlisted for the March 6 assignment and your editor learned only this past week that Larry C. Leonardson (LCL) served a sentence as Bulletin editor prior to the turn of this century! On to Coeur d'Alene chair Joe Truglio reports 10 members are registered for the April 20-22 district conference, including Gary and Donna Whitsell, Steve and Janet Dolan, Rick and Carol Pisani, Eric and Dottie Greenwood, Larry and Elna Duffield, John and Nan Hughes, Daryl and Stacie Eckland, Joe and Suzie Truglio, Jorge and Rosario Gonzalez and Terry and Cherry Jarvis. Nikki cheered the Husky basketball team to victory last week against Cal . . . attending with Susan Webster, winner of a pair of ducats at last week's raffle provided by Linda Hendrickson. Nan and John Hughes joined them for dinner at an Indian restaurant in downtown Bothell and the foursome motored to the game. |
New member proposal The Board has voted to extend invitations of membership to a former Woodinville Rotarian Burke Barker. Burke has been a recent visitor at our meetings. As a previous member, Burke was active in membership development. He is president of Empire Home Remodeling in Woodinville. His sponsor is Bob Rosso. The club will welcome Jerry Cufley and Burke Barker with red badges at this week's meeting. Both have endured membership indoctrination over breakfast at the Maltby Cafe. Both declined the famous cafe cinnamon roll, however. Our active membership presently is 54. |

Alan's
Angle Anyway,
it is wonderful to be back in these pages and to be able to bring this
column to you. Tuesday did dawn a clear and cool day, which is a marked
improvement on what we’ve had in the past few weeks. Many, many
Rotarians came out for a wonderful breakfast, which made for a busy
morning. Preliminary
planning has begun on the 2007 charitable event, with Wine
& Shine remaining as an overall theme, but word was put out for
suggestions on a theme. Any suggestions should be forwarded to Crimson
Chris Boland. We are all looking forward to this event being the best
charitable event ever! St.
Valentine’s Day was certainly in the “air” with Vickie P. leading
us all in a rousing rendition of Let
Me Call You Sweetheart. Though
her “choir” gave it a valiant effort, we should all keep our day
jobs!! Gary W. recognized all scouts (girl and boy) before recognizing
Greg Riggs. with a donation of $2,000 in support of local Northlakes
District Scouting. Greg R. also informed everyone of the 5th
Annual Bear Creek Friends of Scouting Breakfast on March 23rd.
For more information, contact Greg R. It
was then on to our special and unique morning program. Dr. Bob M. &
Dr. Al M. (Paradox?). Dr. Bob ‘serenaded’ us with original lyrics
and melodies, while Dr. Al accompanied him with his acoustic guitar and
vocals. This duet came about when Dr. Bob requested some help for songs
that he and wife Priscilla had written. Dr. Al stepped up to the
“plate” and together they are certainly hitting “home runs”.
They have played at one church and three assisted living facilities, so
far. The Woodinville Rotary was their fifth appearance. Our
Rotary is such a great group of people that two people with diverse
backgrounds can come together and make such ‘sweet music’. --- Alan Nelson, Newsletter reporter |
