Working
with the UW Bothell Village Volunteers Club on this
humanitarian project is a 'trifecta' for Woodinville Rotary
1.
Engages young people in 'Service Above Self.'
2.
Provides Kiminini villagers sustainable business opportunities.
3.
Supports Rotary International programs dedicated to
"water".
The
UWB student club's goal is to engage the non-governmental
organizations of
Village Volunteers,
Common Ground, and Potters for Peace
to
develop a sustainable clean water project in Kenya to benefit
hundreds and hundreds of
families who live under conditions of constant, life threatening
disease.
Village
Volunteers is headquartered in Seattle and serves to (1)
coordinate the manufacture of the ceramic filters (Potter for
Peace), (2) organize the presence of volunteers from the U.S.
who help villagers install and use the filtering system (Village
Volunteers), and (3) arrange for on site operations in and
around the villages targeted for water filtration systems from
Woodinville Rotary and the UWB Action Club (Common Ground).
