John Creason, Greg Gratz, Rho
Kumar, David Landau, Bob Maynard, Evan McAllister.
Presenters include Steve Dolan, John Hughes, Eric Greenwood and Becky Clark (our host). Fellow Rotarians (sent last two weeks to all members)
Over five nights during January, the club will hold evening firesides with the hopes for 100 per cent participation by members. They are held to discuss and develop the direction of the club's activities in the community as well as within our own organization. It gives new members an opportunity to get a better grasp of what the club is all about and what in the past has been the primary emphasis of the club in terms of charitable giving and stewardship of community activities. We held our last series of firesides in the late fall of 2002 prior to embarking on giving our support to Rotary Community Park -- a three-year commitment covering $90,000. Steve Dolan was president at the time and he has agreed to moderate/lead this series in 2009.
The firesides will commence each evening at 5:30 p.m. for pizza and beverage of choice and will be held in the upstairs theater at Brittany Park residential center next to Woodinville City Hall. The address is 17143 133rd Av. NE, Woodinville 98072 (for you MapQuesters). Thanx to Becky Clark for hosting.
The fireside will be conducted in three parts:
1. A review of club projects such as Operation Warm, Northshore Scholarship Foundation participation, reading camp sponsorship, Rotary Community Park etc. How these became focal points for our fund-raising and and charitable giving.
2. A review of the Wine'n Shine charity events, past and future. We'll discuss the charitable giving plan for calendar year 2009, the $173,000 extent of which was made possible by our successful event this past October as well as other revenue generators held in 2008. We'll talk about ideas under consideration for Wine'n Shine 2009 and how important it is for members to be fully engaged to participate in the planning, preparation and staging of our annual work to develop revenue sources for charitable giving in 2010.
3. Open discussion. Q & A on all topics relative to the workings of Woodinville Rotary. A chance for older members to "re-plug in" or bring new ideas to the club; how new members can get involved in all we do; how participation in club activities can be increased by members simply knowing what is available in Rotary that speaks to their interests in public service and why they became and continue to be members. |
