Seven graduating seniors at Woodinville High School were among the 67 students honored May 19th at a recognition breakfast marking the silver anniversary of the Northshore Scholarship Foundation.

The Foundation is operated by Woodinville and Northshore Rotary clubs and the Kiwanis Club of Northshore. The recipients will receive a total of $158,075 in scholarship funding during the event held at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell.

Three 2009 Woodinville graduates will receive $6,000 tuition grants from Woodinville Rotary Club. Named the “Make a Difference” scholarship, they are directed toward high school graduates who would benefit from a sizeable, renewable grant to help cover a majority share of the fast-rising tuition costs at the state’s public and private colleges.

Recipient of the Carlene and Jim Gaudette grant given in recognition of their support of the club’s annual charitable giving program is Jaclyn Smith who plans to attend Central Washington University to become a math  teacher. Another will recognize Sandra Albright and Tana Baumler of the Maltby Café, and be awarded to Sarah Lanter who will attend Seattle Pacific University and work toward a career in medicine or science.

The third “Difference” grant is the Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship and is awarded to Lindsey Guay who will attend Seattle University with plans to pursue a career in either law or criminal justice.

The WSU scholarship renewal was announced at the club’s Earth Day celebration and was awarded to Catherine Jones, an Inglemoor graduate enrolled in graduate work in viticulture.
