October, members fill a table at the annual fund-raising
luncheon. Rotary was instrumental years ago in
establishing this human services organization in Bothell.

charitable giving budget, the club has matched member's
contributions to this program originated by Rotary
District 5030 members who saw the need to provide food
goods for the area's food banks.
Friends of the Hidden River
In keeping
with the club focus on education, Woodinville Rotary is
considering a "hands on" project at the Brightwater
Community Environmental Education Center. The club has supported the
work of the school science teachers who took hold of this
project and worked with King County to bring about this
facility which will open September 24 in Woodinville.

the mentally ill.
Northshore
Scholarship Foundation
Founded in 1984,
Woodinville Rotary is one of three service clubs which
operate this community-based non profit that has
distributed more than $1.5 million in scholarships to
nearly 1,500 local graduates. The club's scholarships
literally "make a difference" whether the recipient is
able to financially attend college at all.
Twenty
One Acres
The club
established an account with the scholarship foundation to
provide annual funds for educational programs sponsored by
the sustainable agriculture center in Woodinville. An open
house is planned August 26 to feature its first permanent
structure, a LEED building.
Operation Warm
Since 2006,
the club has provided new, stylish winter coats for
children attending the annual Santa Breakfast held for
families with children attending elementary schools in the
Northshore School District and who qualify for the
reduced-cost lunch program.
Josh the
Otter Water Safety and Awareness Project
Our goal is to educate children with a fun and simple message:
TO STAY AWAY FROM WATER UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. “Josh the Baby Otter” was created to help children comprehend and remember this important message. Ultimately, we want to create a water safety behavior for all children that will be passed on from generation to generation.
The program will be introduced to elementary and pre-school age children in the
late spring 2012.
